Clinton vs. Trump Jr

Here we go again. The media are in another frenzy over Donald Trump Jr.'s meeting with Russians.

As you know, Hillary Clinton's campaign was haunted by scandal, not related to Russia, but her own attempts to avoid State Department regulations regarding the handling of sensitive communications. She maintained an eye-popping number of unsecured devices -- private servers, laptops, iPads, Blackberries -- from which she sent thousands of emails that she did not want others to see.

When investigators attempted to gain access to Clinton's emails, she and her lawyers engaged in an extraordinary effort to conceal them.

She deleted tens of thousands of emails she claimed were about yoga lessons and weddings.

Her private server was wiped with Bleachbit.

Devices that were surrendered were -- Surprise! -- useless. They were missing SIM cards that contained essential data.

Her aides destroyed several devices with hammers.

A laptop was "lost" in the mail.

I'm surprised she never tried the excuse, "My dog ate my emails."

In legal parlance all of this behavior relates to what prosecutors (not named Comey) would call "intent." Clearly, her intent was to hide communications that many believe would incriminate her for exploiting her government office to benefit the financial dealings of the Clinton Foundation.

By the way, she did all of this as a former first lady, former senator and lawyer in her mid-to-late 60s who has had an eye on the presidency ever since she graduated college.

Now let's compare that to the current controversy involving Donald Trump Jr., a 39-year old real estate executive who grew up in a family that had nothing to do with politics.

He finds himself in the middle of a presidential campaign, something you can't imagine unless you have done it (and I have). His father is shocking everyone with his success. Don Jr. gets an email suggesting that a lawyer from Russia may have incriminating information on Hillary Clinton.

If you believe that talking to this lawyer is illegal, would you engage in the email chain he wrote?

Would you ask other key people in the campaign to join you?

After big media makes Russian collusion a big theme, would you leave the emails on your computer?

Donald Trump Jr. is not guilty of collusion. He is guilty of not understanding how the far left will go to criminalize politics.

Coming to America

Comey: Good Riddance!

Crimes Comey refused to prosecute

This is a short list of unprosecuted crimes that Comey ignored or supported provided by The Millennium Report.

    The infamous Iran deal
    Hillary Clinton Benghazi gun running
    Ambassador Steven’s death
Eric Holder’s Fast and Furious gun running
Hillary’s private server espionage and treason
    Bush and Clinton bank bailouts
Bombing seven sovereign nations without congressional approval
Obama’s IBM Eclipse Foundation’s social networking patent theft
James Clapper’s illegal NSA/CIA/FBI surveillance and his perjury before Congress
    Obama’s energy company subsidies
Misuse of banker fines to support liberal activist groups
Theft of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac
    Obama’s IRS targeting of conservatives
Obama and Clinton’s confiscations from the Bureau of Land Management
Planned Parenthood eugenics and baby parts trafficking
Gold, silver, and LIBOR rate rigging
Ignoring “missing person” reports and supporting human trafficking
Clinton Foundation theft of $2 billion under the guise of a Presidential Library fund
Hillary taking money from foreign nations while Secretary of State
Maintaining open borders and Sanctuary Cities
    Refugee trafficking and fraud
Allowing overstayed visas of more than one million people
    Non-enforcement of existing immigration laws

James Comey has been the fixer for the Clinton crime family for decades beginning in the 1990’s with Whitewater and most famously making the strong case for prosecuting Hillary Clinton for her illegal unsecured private basement server and then stunningly recommending against prosecution. But what the public did not realize is that prosecuting Clinton could expose Comey himself. That is why he is actually part of the Clinton email coverup. Good riddance!

The Insane Left

California yesterday added Texas, Alabama, Kentucky and South Dakota to its growing list of states that public employees cannot travel to on official business. Celebrations immediately broke out in Texas, Alabama, Kentucky and South Dakota. (Just kidding.) Kansas, Mississippi, North Carolina and Tennessee are already being boycotted by California bureaucrats.

What is this boycott about?

In a variety of ways, these states are safeguarding the rights of religious individuals and organizations to follow their deeply held beliefs. And the intolerant progressives who run California just can't tolerate it.

For example, in these states a Catholic charity could not be forced to provide abortion coverage to its employees. In contrast, California is forcing pregnancy resource centers to promote abortion. California also objects to states requiring girls to use the girls' bathroom and requiring boys to use the boys' bathroom. California thinks this is a violation of human rights.

Just a few weeks ago, California Gov. Jerry Brown (affectionately known as Gov. Moonbeam) strengthened his progressive credentials by hopping on a jet and traveling to Beijing to make a separate climate deal with China, the world's biggest polluter.

China is a country that does not recognize religious freedom under any circumstance that conflicts with communist rule. It imprisons dissidents. It monitors and raids Christian churches. It is threatening its smaller and weaker neighbors. For decades, China forcibly aborted women who dared to have a second child. It suppresses free speech. And China isn't exactly "gay friendly" either.

How insane is the progressive left in America? It looks at China and Texas and declares Texas to be the human rights violator.

Hiding Something?

A new Rasmussen poll finds that 50% of likely voters want Congress or the FBI to investigate allegations that Obama Administration officials abused our nation's intelligence apparatus to spy on political opponents and leak damaging information to the media. Another poll finds that 53% of voters feel that leaking classified information to the media is an act of treason.

Judicial Watch has been trying to find out the extent to which former National Security Advisor Susan Rice was involved in exposing the identities of American citizens who were caught up in foreign surveillance. But recently the group received a notice from the NSA saying it didn't have any records to turn over. Here we go again. . .

According to the NSA, Obama Administration records have been given to the Obama Presidential Library, and, "under the Presidential Records Act, presidential records remain closed to the public for five years after an administration has left office."

How convenient.

If members of an administration can commit potential crimes and hide the evidence in a library for five years, we've got big problems. This may be litigated in the courts, but we can't predict with any certainty how such a lawsuit might turn out or how long it could take.

The Republican Hit List

Over the weekend, House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was upgraded from critical condition to serious. That is good news. He has undergone several surgeries already, and doctors said Friday that Rep. Scalise "will require additional operations to manage abdominal injuries and other broken bones."

As you may have heard, a "hit list" was found on James Hodgkinson's body containing the names of conservative Republicans, including personal friends of mine such as Rep. Trent Franks of Arizona.

I monitored the evening news broadcasts as this story broke over the weekend and, as best as I could tell, not one major network reported that the shooter had a target list of Republican congressmen. The media's bias is disappointing, but hardly surprising.

Talking about the list would underscore the reality that this was a premeditated attack by a left-wing extremist who had one purpose -- to kill as many Republican officials as he could. And not just any Republicans, but those members most serious about religious liberty, securing our borders and protecting the sanctity of life.

The fact that this list was a non-news story exposes yet again how much the news is filtered through a prism that benefits the left. For example, one network referred to the assassination attempt as "the baseball field shooting."

What was that about? A dispute over a foul ball? Rowdy fans getting out-of-hand?

Here's an easy test: Change the names of the victims of the crimes. For example, assume that the shooter was a Donald Trump or Ted Cruz activist. Assume that his social media pages were filled with hateful rhetoric against liberals. Assume that he went to a ballfield and opened fire on leading Democrats and that it was discovered he was carrying a hit list of other progressive politicians.

Does anyone think THAT story would be slipping from the front pages, as the Scalise shooting is?

I am still waiting for big media to start asking liberal leaders the same questions they have peppered conservatives leaders with after similar incidents in the past. "Senator Warren, Rep. Pelosi, Do you feel any responsibility for the rhetoric you use? Are you going to tone down the invective?"

Incredibly, several commentators have actually attacked Rep. Scalise. MSNBC's Joy-Ann Reid said, "It's a delicate thing, because obviously everybody is wishing the congressman well and hoping he recovers -- but Steve Scalise has a history that we've all been forced to sort of ignore on race." She also made an issue out of his support for defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

Reid was referring to a speech Scalise gave in 2002 about fiscal issues, allegedly before a white supremacist group. And Rep. Cedric Richmond, a black Democrat from New Orleans, defended Scalise, saying he doesn't have "a racist bone in his body."

Again, just imagine if a Fox commentator had said, "Well, while we all want Congresswoman Gabby Giffords to recover, we can't overlook her liberal background, which millions of Americans find offensive given her support for taking away your guns and redefining marriage." That commentator would have been fired within an hour.

Comey Invalidates Special Counsel

The most startling revelation from fired FBI Director James Comey’s testimony this week was his barefaced admission that he intentionally leaked details of his private conversations with the President to the press in an effort to prompt the appointment a special counsel.

When asked Thursday by Senator Susan Collins of Maine whether he shared the memos he wrote about his conversations with President Trump with anyone outside the Department of Justice, Comey answered:

“I asked a friend of mine to share the content of the memo with a reporter – didn’t do it myself for a variety of reasons – but I asked him to, because I thought that might prompt the appointment of a special counsel.”

This statement is tremendously important because it completely delegitimizes Robert Mueller’s so-called independent investigation and reveals it as poisoned fruit.

Think about it: Comey was the top law enforcement officer in the nation before he was fired on May 9. Had he felt a special counsel was necessary to investigate possible Russian influence in the 2016 election, he could have requested one from Congress at any time. If he felt his conversations with President Trump warranted additional attention, he could have approached Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein about it.

But instead he decided to do nothing. Comey apparently didn’t think there was need for a special counsel until the Monday after he was fired, according to his testimony. In a clear act of retaliation, Comey went outside the system and shared secret information with the media via a college professor-friend, in a calculated attempt to inflict pain on the Trump Administration. Further, he said he turned all his memos about his conversations over to the special counsel upon his termination – so Mueller’s investigators already had all they needed to make their own decisions.

But Comey knows that the press feed off attacking Trump. He also knows that they have an incomplete, false understanding of the Russia investigation and would therefore gladly perpetuate the false narrative that Trump was somehow under investigation. He saw a chance to cause drama, and he took it.

Yet this is the same person who on Thursday, under oath, exonerated Trump on the Russia question. Collins asked Comey two very direct, simple questions. She asked, “whether there was any kind of investigation about the President underway” and “was the President under investigation at the time of [Comey’s] dismissal on May 9?”

For both questions – under oath – Comey answered “no.”

This kind of petty vindictiveness is so unbelievable, I wouldn’t even write this type of stuff in one of my novels. The truth is, Comey behaved exactly like a bitter employee who had just been fired. He said nasty things about everyone from President Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions to former Attorney General Loretta Lynch, who served the Obama administration. The common thread in his testimony was that his firing was everyone’s fault but his own.

But there’s another wrinkle in this story: Comey and Mueller are very close.

Throughout his testimony, Comey described Mueller as “one of this country’s great, great pros,” called him “the right person” to lead the Russia investigation, and said “Bob Mueller is one of the finest people and public servants this country’s ever produced. He will do it well. He is a dogged, tough person, and you can have high confidence that, when it’s done, he’s turned over all the rocks.”

When Senator John Cornyn asked whether anything Comey had testified would “impede the investigation of the FBI or Director Mueller’s commitment to get to the bottom of this,” Comey stressed that the appointment of Mueller was “a critical part of that equation.”

Let’s also not forget that 97 percent of campaign donations from Department of Justice employees went to Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election. The culture and people at DOJ are predisposed to be hostile to President Trump.

So, what we have here is a fired FBI director, who leaked private material to the press, so he could get his friend appointed as a special counsel in order to take retribution on the President – with the aid of a department full of federal lawyers who would have rather seen Hillary in the White House. And we are supposed to believe this will be an objective, unbiased investigation?

Comey’s testimony – and the situation he orchestrated around it – really show the depths to which the deep state will go – working around Congress, outside of even the federal process – to damage and undermine President Trump. And it perfectly illustrates how sick the system has become.

In my new book, Understanding Trump, which will be released Tuesday, I describe deep state operatives like Comey as the permanent opposition. They will stop at nothing to mar the Trump presidency in order to keep their influence.

Make no mistake: This is not about law and order, it is not about justice, it is not even about any investigation. This is about influence peddling, this is about the search for vengeance, and this is about stopping the revolution President Trump was elected to implement.

This is everything that sickens normal Americans about the swamp.

America is on a knife’s edge. The question is now whether Republicans in Congress will have the courage to stand with President Trump and fight the deep state that was personified in Comey’s testimony Thursday.

Not Funny

"Comedian" Kathy Griffin has ignited a firestorm of revulsion and anger. She participated in a disgusting photo shoot in which she is featured holding the bloody, severed head of President Donald Trump.

President Trump tweeted that Griffin should be ashamed of herself, adding, "My children, especially my 11 year old son, Barron, are having a hard time with this. Sick!"

The Secret Service is reportedly investigating the incident and Griffin is begging for forgiveness. The only reason she is apologizing is because the left has broken ranks and abandoned her.

For the past 10 years, Griffin has co-hosted CNN's New Year's Eve coverage. The network announced today that it has terminated its agreement with Griffin. Anderson Cooper tweeted that he was "appalled" by the photo shoot, adding that it was "clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate."

Chelsea Clinton tweeted, "This is vile and wrong. It is never funny to joke about killing a president."

Donald Trump, Jr., rejected Griffin's apology as "phony," adding that it "would be a lot easier to believe if there wasn't a video of her mocking the response she knew was coming."

Tyler Shields, the so-called "artist" who did the photo shoot, said that he and Griffin "figured out the best image" before hand. Here is Shields' explanation:

"Kathy and I are friends and we worked together before. So when we started doing this shoot, she said, 'I'd love to do something political. I'd love to make a statement.' We kind of figured out what would be the best image to make out of that. . . I can't speak for her, [but] I know she [Griffin] loves to stir the pot."

Of all the things Griffin could have done to express her opposition to President Trump she chose a beheading -- something that normalizes the violence of the jihadists rampaging across the Middle East and Africa. This is an image meant to terrorize.

The real story here is that the "Resistance" -- as the left likes to call itself -- was erasing the boundaries of acceptable behavior well before the election and it has continued doing so ever since. The left feels justified in terrorizing conservatives.

There are constant suggestions that the administration is illegitimate, that the president colluded with Russia to steal the election.

White House employees have been accosted in public.

There is a constant drumbeat suggesting that the president and his supporter are Nazis. Comparisons to Hitler are routine.

There were physical attacks on Trump supporters before the election and after.

This is the atmosphere of hate the left is creating.

America's NEW violent political left

We have reported in the past about the growing violence on university campuses and attacks against conservatives in major cities. Physical assaults and violent attacks by the left are becoming more frequent. These are not isolated incidents by rogue leftists. It is part of a deliberate strategy to terrorize and silence conservatives.

That political debates can at times get heated and occasionally out of control is not surprising. Passions on hot button issues often run hot. But the left has a growing problem with violence and few responsible elected officials are calling them out about it.

The Occupy Wall Street movement, for example, formed to protest excesses in the financial industry, developed a lengthy rap sheet. Liberal pollster Doug Schoen surveyed the Occupy demonstrators and found that 31% supported violence to achieve their agenda.

Hillary Clinton's defeat did not result in any significant introspection by the left. It appears to have only further radicalized many in the "resistance." During Donald Trump's inauguration, they took to the streets of Washington, D.C., blocked public entrances, set trash on fire and attacked private property. I was accosted by two left-wing demonstrators while attempting to get to an inaugural event.

Remember the recent pipeline protests in North Dakota? Law enforcement officials collected 41 pages of social media posts against the police officers who had to confront the demonstrators. The names, addresses and pictures of law enforcement officers were posted online with threats like this one: "Every one of these cops has family . . . Make their family pay."

In one video, a progressive threatened to gang rape officers' family members and threatened to "kill your daughters, your mothers, your fathers, your grandparents, even you!"

As I wrote last week, the progressive left is increasingly engaging in fascist tactics, and The Daily Caller has outlined a number of shocking incidents. For example:

Last week, police in Tennessee charged an Obamacare supporter with felony reckless endangerment after she followed Rep. David Kustoff (R-TN) from a town hall event and attacked his vehicle.

Rep. Kevin Cramer (R-ND) was also physically accosted by an Obamacare supporter.

Again, my friends, these are not just spontaneous outbursts. The "Resistance" is embracing violence. Let me share with you what one Huffington Post writer suggested recently:

"It's time to move beyond polite protests within specified boundaries. It's time to escalate the expression of our outrage and our anger in a massive way. Starting today and from here on, no elected official -- certainly those in the GOP defending and supporting Trump on a variety of issues, for example -- should be able to sit down for a nice, quiet lunch or dinner in a Washington, D.C. eatery or even in their own homes. They should be hounded by protestors everywhere, especially in public -- in restaurants, in shopping centers, in their districts, and yes, on the public property outside their homes and apartments, in Washington and back in their home states."

Of course, at least two members of the Trump Administration have been harassed in public places. White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer was accosted at an Apple store. Omarosa Manigault was accosted while shopping at a northern Virginia mall.

There was a time not that long ago during the Obama years when "civility in our public discourse" was all the rage among the media. Tea Party supporters were told to calm down and be quiet. Suddenly, those concerned media voices are silent. Virtually no one in the mainstream media or the liberal political establishment is calling out the Huffington Post for threatening Trump supporters in their homes or denouncing the left's embrace of violence.

About that Flynn Fellow

Predictably, every big media outlet had the same breathless reporting after yesterday's congressional hearing with former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper. Yates told senators that she warned the White House counsel that Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn was not telling the full truth about his conversations with the Russian ambassador. (Flynn did discuss sanctions when he said he had not). In addition, Barack Obama had warned Trump against hiring Flynn.

So what? As I pointed out yesterday, in what world would the Trump White House trust Barack Obama, who had also hired Flynn, fired Flynn, allowed him to travel to Moscow and reauthorized his security clearance? Obama also had engaged in an over-the-top effort to deny Trump the presidency.

There were some things we learned yesterday, and they are exactly the kind of things big media does not want the average American to know. For example:

Clapper and Yates said nothing yesterday that in any way advances the left's narrative that the Trump team colluded with Russia to steal the election from Hillary Clinton. Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said Sunday that there is no evidence to support that bizarre claim.

Beyond Russia's hacking, the only crime that we know of was committed by an unknown individual who leaked classified information obtained by the National Security Agency to the Washington Post. It is likely that this person is in the intelligence community or the Justice Department. The purpose of that leak was to destabilize the duly elected president and his administration. That is much more serious than a hack by Russia of the Democrat National Committee.

Perhaps the biggest revelation, which is being largely ignored by the media, was Clapper's admission that in the course of monitoring certain foreigners, the conversations of multiple members of Congress and other elected officials have been swept up in intelligence gathering efforts. Clapper also said that he had requested the name of a member of Congress or Trump associate be revealed.

The most important "witness" -- Susan Rice -- unfortunately wasn't there. Subcommittee chairman Lindsey Graham requested her testimony, but for whatever reason, she declined. Sen. Graham should subpoena Rice to compel her testimony.

I continue to believe that Rice is central to what could be the biggest political scandal in modern history -- the political abuse of our national security apparatus by the Obama Administration, which is a far bigger story than whatever Michael Flynn said to the Russian ambassador.

You may recall that on April 5th I asked why do we believe that only Trump was monitored. Why not Bernie Sanders or other GOP candidates? Yesterday, Sen. Rand Paul sent a letter to the Senate Intelligence Committee demanding to know whether he and other members of Congress were monitored by the Obama Administration.

Journalists have suggested that while Obama was cooperating with an enemy of the United States (Iran), his operatives in U.S. intelligence agencies spied on the opponents of the Iranian nuclear deal, many of whom talked with officials of the Israeli government.

Here's an interesting question: Was anyone in the intelligence community monitoring Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry to see if they were colluding with Iran to undermine an ally of the United States?

Obama: Iran's Washington Lobbyist

Months ago, I argued that the Iranian nuclear deal was so bad that it was hard to see how Barack Obama was acting as anything other than a lobbyist for the Islamic Republic. Tehran got virtually everything it demanded. Time and again, the U.S. constantly gave in to Iranian demands for more concessions.

The deal was so bad that Obama plotted to avoid the Constitution's treaty approval process because he knew it would never pass muster with the people's representatives.

The deal was so bad that Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes even admitted to lying about it in order to deceive the public.

Not surprisingly, we are still learning just how bad this deal is and how much we were lied to by the Obama Administration.

What is surprising is the source of the latest revelations -- Politico, a reliably liberal publication. Many Washington conservatives are shocked that Politico "committed an act of journalism."

Sarcasm aside, we are now learning that there was another "hidden giveaway" involved in the deal. Politico reports that the Obama White House "derailed its own much-touted National Counterproliferation Initiative at a time when it was making unprecedented headway in thwarting Iran's proliferation networks."

How so? Obama freed several Iranians who were intimately involved in Tehran's illegal weapons trade.

When Obama made the announcement, as part of a hostage swap, he again lied to the American people. On January 17, 2016, Obama said that he was releasing seven Iranians as part of a "one-time, humanitarian gesture." He added, "These individuals were not charged with terrorism or any violent offenses." He added that they were "civilians."

Here are the facts from Politico's investigation:

Three allegedly were part of an illegal procurement network supplying Iran with U.S.-made microelectronics with applications in surface-to-air and cruise missiles.

One was serving an eight-year sentence for conspiring to supply Iran with satellite technology and hardware.

In addition, the Justice Department dropped charges and international arrest warrants against 14 other men.

Three sought to lease Boeing aircraft for an Iranian airline that had supported Hezbollah.

A fourth was charged with conspiring to buy thousands of assault rifles for Iran.

A fifth was part of a procurement network that provided Iran with components for an especially deadly type of IED known to have killed hundreds of American troops in Iraq.

Politico writes that federal prosecutors and investigators "were shocked and angry." One former federal law enforcement supervisor said, "They didn't just dismiss a bunch of innocent business guys."

But there was more. The Obama Administration sabotaged active investigations. "Justice and State Department officials denied or delayed requests from prosecutors and agents to lure some key Iranian fugitives to friendly countries so they could be arrested," Politico writes.

A weapons proliferation expert added, "This is a scandal. The cases bear all the hallmarks of exactly the kinds of national security threats we're still going after. It's stunning and hard to understand. . ."

Thankfully, President Trump has ordered his national security team to reevaluate the Iranian nuclear deal. In the meantime, the White House should identify and fire any Obama officials involved in this scandal.

March for Science

As you know, there were "non-partisan" March for Science demonstrations in many U.S. cities over the weekend, including here in Washington, D.C. Of course, they really weren't non-partisan.

They were thinly-veiled anti-Trump, anti-conservative gatherings. Some of these same folks were in Washington after the inauguration marching around town with "vagina hats" on their heads. Don't ask.

I can say with certainty that the crowd was selective in its love of science. For example, I saw no signs defending two scientific truths that the left rejects: Life beings at conception and there are only two genders.

Can someone please give these "geniuses" a biology textbook?

Left-Wing Hate Speach

Former Vermont Governor Dr. Howard Dean has weighed in on the Ann Coulter/Berkeley controversy. He tweeted, "Hate speech is not protected by the first amendment."

When leftists like Howard Dean say hate speech is not protected by the First Amendment then the first question we should ask is, "What does Howard think is hate speech?" We just went through an entire election cycle in which the left told us every day what hate speech was.

According to the left, hate speech is saying that some illegal immigrants commit crimes. (By the way, the Trump Administration warned nine sanctuary cities today that they had to prove their compliance with federal law or risk losing federal dollars.)

According to the left, hate speech is saying that marriage is between a man and a woman.

According to the left, hate speech is saying that terrorist acts are being committed by radical Islamists.

Just like hate crimes, hate speech is a one-way street. Hate speech is any speech that offends the left.

Little Howard Dean wannabes on university campuses say it is hate speech if you cite research proving that most police officers really are good guys. And of course, flying the Confederate flag is hate speech. But burning an American flag is not.

A mural featuring a decapitated Donald Trump is free expression. Saying the NRA is more dangerous than ISIS is free speech.

But it is hate speech to say we should limit immigration from nations that have large radical Islamic populations. It is not hate speech to say that the flag of Islam will fly over the White House.

My point is simply this: Increasingly the left, including the left-wing media, define mainstream conservative ideas as hate speech.

So don't dismiss the Howard Deans of the world when they tell you that hate speech isn't protected by the First Amendment. They mean it and they mean to shut you up.

One of the reasons the country is so on edge is that at least half of America understands that the other side wants to make it impossible to defend our values.

the REAL fascists

Left-wing Fascism At Berkeley

For the third time in as many months, the University of California, Berkeley, has banned a leading conservative from speaking on campus. The latest victim of the radical left's fascism is author and commentator Ann Coulter.

In a statement announcing the cancellation of Coulter's April 27th appearance, Berkeley administrators declared, "Given currently active security threats, it is not possible to assure that the event could be held successfully -- or that the safety of Ms. Coulter, the event sponsors, audience, and bystanders could be adequately protected -- at any of the campus venues."

How pathetic!

Initially, Berkeley made several absurd demands. For example, the university demanded that Coulter speak only during the day -- when students are in class. She agreed.

Then Berkeley demanded that the event be closed to the public and that only students could attend. Coulter agreed.

Then Berkeley said that the location could not be announced until right before the event was set to begin. In other words, Berkeley did its best to ensure that virtually no one would be able to attend her speech. But Coulter accepted all these conditions.

She asked in return only that the rioters be prosecuted and that students who engaged in violence be expelled. Well, that was too much for Berkeley. Rather than defend free speech and uphold the rule of law, Berkeley cancelled Coulter's appearance.

Berkeley is a sad example of how our institutions of higher learning are becoming "Constitution/Conservative Free Zones," where the First Amendment's freedom of speech does not apply to conservatives.

Coulter, however, is unbowed. "They can't stop me. I'm an American," she said. "I have constitutional rights. . . The speech will go on."

I am glad Coulter isn't backing down. The left's fascist tactics and its totalitarian tendencies must be exposed and resisted. Public institutions that refuse to guarantee First Amendment freedoms and fail to enforce public safety should lose access to public dollars.

Think about that!

Sessions Gets Serious

While the media continue to pursue the narrative that Donald Trump cannot accomplish anything, day by day the Trump Administration is rolling back the last eight years of disastrous policies.

For example, Attorney General Jeff Sessions visited the southern border yesterday and announced new initiatives intended to seriously address illegal immigration. Attorney General Sessions bluntly warned:

"For those who continue to seek improper and illegal entry into this country, be forewarned: This is a new era. This is the Trump era. The lawlessness, the abdication of duty to enforce our laws, and the catch and release policies of the past are over."

In stark contrast to the Obama Administration's abuse of "prosecutorial discretion," Attorney General Sessions yesterday directed federal prosecutors to charge repeat illegal entry offenders with a felony. Illegal immigrants caught with fake documents or IDs will be charged with aggravated identity theft.

While Obama's weak policies invited massive waves of illegal immigration, Trump's tough stance is having an immediate effect: Border crossings have fallen to their lowest levels in 17 years!

President Trump is already producing positive results. So much for the media's "do nothing" narrative.

The Fascist Left

Heather MacDonald, a widely respected researcher, was prevented from speaking last week at Claremont McKenna College by a violent mob of demonstrators. I don't know how MacDonald defines herself politically, but I do know she is very pro-law enforcement. And that was too much for the left-wing students and Black Lives Matter radicals on campus.

MacDonald wanted to explain that the police "are the most dedicated workers in government who make sure black lives matter." But the "tolerant" left once again employed fascist tactics to shut her down.

Hiram E. Chodosh, president of the college, issued a statement saying that "any forced interventions or arrests would have created unsafe conditions for students, faculty, staff, and guests."

Sorry, President Chodosh, but silencing free speech and giving in to the demands of radicals is the wrong response. Your cowardice only emboldens the real fascists in America -- the radical left.

The left's disrespect for our most basic constitutional rights must be aggressively resisted. Radicals who disrupt public events should be arrested and prosecuted. Institutions of higher learning that cannot or will not protect free speech should lose taxpayer funding.

And more of our political leaders on both sides of the aisle should speak up and condemn the violence and harassment that is routinely committed by progressive storm troopers.

Judging Trump's Executive Order

Friday afternoon, a federal judge in Seattle suspended President Trump's executive order halting refugees from entering the country. Over the weekend, an emergency request by the Trump Administration to reinstate the president's order was denied. I think it is important to revisit the issue to better understand why President Trump took the action he did.

This is not a problem that President Trump made up or imagined. ISIS has repeatedly told us that it is infiltrating the flow of refugees with terrorists.

Last summer, Obama's CIA Director John Brennan told Congress: "[ISIS] is probably exploring a variety of means for infiltrating operatives into the West, including refugee flows, smuggling routes and legitimate methods of travel."

In February 2015, eight refugees were charged in federal court for supporting terrorism.

In 2013, ABC News reported on two Iraqi refugees who had been arrested in Bowling Green, Kentucky. They had been charged with supporting Al Qaeda.

According to an agent involved in the case, the FBI was conducting "dozens of counter-terrorism investigations" as a result of the failed vetting that allowed those two refugees to enter the country. In response to that failure, President Obama suspended the immigration of Iraqi refugees for six months.

And it may have happened again. Not even two weeks ago, the Los Angeles Times reported that "dozens of Syrian refugees already in the United States" were being re-investigated after serious lapses in their vetting were discovered.

It has been humorous to watch various progressives suddenly rediscovering their support for the separation of powers and three branches of government. The left cheered when Barack Obama vowed to use his pen and phone to take unilateral action. But when Donald Trump does it on matters of national security, the left freaks out.

It is well-established that the commander in chief has tremendous latitude when it comes to foreign policy, immigration and the defense of the country. According to a recent report by the Congressional Research Service, President Obama exercised his authority to limit immigration from specific countries 19 times!

In defending President Trump's order, the Justice Department made the obvious argument: "Unlike the president, courts do not have access to classified information about the threat posed by terrorist organizations operating in particular nations, the efforts of those organizations to infiltrate the United States, or gaps in the vetting process."

Needless to say, the administration is appealing the case and is pressing for a quick review. A three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals is expected to issue a ruling within days. But as you may know, the Ninth Circuit is the most left-wing court in the country, and its decisions are frequently overturned by the Supreme Court.

The left should be scared to death after Trump's first week

The elite left and their propagandists in the media are already in hysterics over President Trump’s first week in office, but for most Americans there are no surprises here.

The president is doing exactly what he has said he would do for the last two years on the campaign – immediately get to work focusing on jobs, immigration and shrinking government. And guess what: He’s going to continue.

President Trump’s order to end Obama’s utterly irrational ban on the Keystone XL Pipeline could mean 20,000 jobs that were going to China could instead come here and provide Houston with 30 to 40 years of work. Completing Keystone, and the Dakota Access Pipeline, will make us less dependent on the Middle East for our energy and create jobs in our energy sector.

Expediting unending environmental reviews for important infrastructure projects will mean bridge and highway builders will be able to hire workers sooner and complete projects more quickly for less money. This is perfectly Trumpian and completely the opposite of business as usual in Washington.

While the media has obsessed over how many people were at the inaugural ceremony, the president has signed orders to shield people, states and businesses from future financial damage wrought by ObamaCare and other pending Obama regulations. This will give people and employers some relief while Congress works to fully fix the country’s hobbled healthcare system and untangle the web of senseless regulations brought on over the last eight years by the Washington bureaucracy.

President Trump has also made good on his promise to immediately begin work securing our border and returning the rule of law to our immigration system – something the left has bitterly opposed.

In a time when heroin and opioid abuse is devastating communities across the nation, and a time when people who want to kill us and destroy our society are trying to infiltrate our county, what reasonable person would say hiring up to 10,000 more U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers and up to 5,000 more U.S. Border Patrol agents is a bad idea?

The president is immediately working to end the catch-and-release policies of so-called sanctuary cities like Chicago and Los Angeles, where instead of immediately turning criminal aliens who are released from police custody over to immigration officials, the crooks are let back out on the streets.

Leaders in cities granting asylum to such criminals are going to have to explain to their residents why the imagined rights of criminal noncitizens are more important than receiving federal funds to build infrastructure, hospitals, or improve their schools. And I can’t wait to see Mayor Rahm Emanuel explain to the people of Chicago – where 4,000 people were shot last year – why it’s important to put more criminals on the streets of the Windy City.

The left is also understandably alarmed by Trump’s announced investigation into voter fraud in America, a problem for which he has consistently expressed concern as a candidate. President Trump wants to make sure that to vote in this country you must be both alive and a legal citizen. I think those are two reasonable criteria to vote, but they pose real problems for the left.

The president is also taking first steps toward reforming the civil service, which is badly in need of overhaul. The hiring freeze Trump placed on some federal agencies has Washington, D.C.’s unelected policymakers quaking while people outside the Beltway who pay their salaries are sighing with relief.

All of these actions are perfectly in-line with what President Trump campaigned on – and what the American people elected him to do. So, of course his liberal and establishment critics are shocked, baffled and anxious. Actually doing the things you said you would do during a campaign is completely outside liberalism and unthinkable to the traditional Washington establishment.

The last time the country witnessed a president come to office and immediately begin working to enact the will of the American people was in 1981, when President Ronald Reagan took office.

Within weeks of his inauguration, Reagan proposed some of the most aggressive tax and budget reforms Congress had ever seen. He was reacting directly to the country’s concern over a failing economy and a sense of American decline that was felt worldwide.

Reagan started the first great effort to break out of the Franklin Delano Roosevelt model of American government that has engorged the Washington elite and left the rest of the country flailing.

The second effort was the Contract with America in 1994.

President Trump is leading the third – and hopefully ultimate – charge to steer our country in a bold new direction that is guided by the will of the people.

The left and the establishment were scared in 1981, they were scared in 1994, and they are scared today – for good reason.

Newt Gingrich, a Republican, was speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 1995 to 1999.

Obama's Jail Break

Last year, 6,000 so-called "non-violent criminals" were released from federal prisons, part of the Obama Administration's efforts to relax sentences for non-violent drug offenders. An additional 8,500 prisoners may be deemed eligible for early release next as well while Obama is still in office. And that is just the tip of the iceberg.

Administration officials estimate that as many as 46,000 prisoners may have their sentences reduced over the next few years, leading to what one report called "the biggest prisoner release in U.S. history."

Criminal justice reform is all the rage right now. It is a key demand of the Black Lives Matter movement and even some Republicans have jumped on the bandwagon. But it is important to note that we are not talking about adults who were busted smoking marijuana.

According to an analysis by Investor's Business Daily, "Most sold crack cocaine or meth. . . Fewer than 1 in 10 are marijuana offenders." Moreover, 20% of the 6,000 offenders just released were also in jail for illegal firearms possession while committing drug offenses.

President Obama and the left are constantly railing against conservative support for the Second Amendment and demanding that we get guns off the streets. But guns don't kill people by themselves. Criminals use guns to kill people. Obama just released 6,000 thugs who had illegal guns while they were dealing drugs!

And if that wasn't bad enough, consider this from the IBD report: "Internal government documents . . . show that the administration figures as many as 43% may re-offend within five years of release." So we're letting them out early even though we expect nearly half will commit more crimes, injuring more innocent people and ending up back in jail.

From jihadists at Guantanamo to illegal immigrants in sanctuary cities and armed drug pushers, the left always has the same idea -- release them!

How America Could (Literally) Run Out Of Food – And What You Can Do

Written by: Kimberly Sears

Italy’s first McDonald’s was about to open in Rome, and journalist and gastronomist Carlo Petrini was not going to stand idly by. Petrini assembled his friends and community to protest the global industrialization of food and take a stand for “slow food.”

That was in 1986, and Petrini and his fellow foodies didn’t succeed in keeping McDonald’s out of Italy. But three years later under Petrini’s passionate leadership, Slow Food International was officially founded in Paris and delegates from 15 countries signed the Slow Food Manifesto, pledging to “rediscover the rich varieties and aromas of local cuisines … by advocating historical food culture and by defending old-fashioned food traditions.”

December 10 marks 25 years since Slow Food International was founded. Since that time, the organization has grown to include over 150,000 members in 150 countries, including national chapters in Italy, Germany, Japan and the United States. Slow Food USA was founded in 2000 and now has more than 175 chapters across the country.

Slow Food’s most significant contribution is the Ark of Taste. Like Noah’s ark, it is a carefully curated collection of plants and animals that are at risk of extinction. Heirloom seeds and heirloom animal breeds are catalogued, and consumers are linked with distributors to ensure that these foods remain in production and on our plates. The Ark of Taste is a great boon for gardeners and families who want to help preserve biodiversity, save their own seeds, and produce their own food without relying on big-box food corporations.

The Difference Between Trump and Obama

Obama Does It Again

With just one week left before he leaves office, Barack Obama is still attempting to "fundamentally transform" America. Last night, the White House announced another major change to American foreign policy by terminating the "wet foot-dry foot" policy toward Cubans fleeing the repressive Castro communist regime.

For many years, our policy has been that Cubans who make it to America are permitted to stay. Those caught at sea are returned. Now Obama is planning to deport all Cuban refugees no matter where we find them. Now he gets tough on deportations?

Whatever one thinks of the policy itself, I am struck by the many contradictions of the president's actions.

Since Obama began "normalizing" relations with the Castro regime, tens of thousands of Cubans have fled the island: 40,000 left in 2015 and 56,000 left last year. That speaks volumes about Castro's "workers' paradise."

But Obama and the left are big advocates of open borders. Obama has broken our immigration system with his quasi-amnesty orders. He has handcuffed our Border Patrol agents. He has tolerated and encouraged sanctuary cities, where American citizens are murdered by illegal immigrants who shouldn't be here.

But suddenly, just as he is walking out the door, Obama slams the door on Cubans who want to escape tyranny.

There was bi-partisan condemnation for Obama's action. Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL) said, "This last act of diminishing lifelines to Cubans languishing in totalitarianism is one final despicable betrayal of a people who deserve better from an American president."

Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) blasted Obama, saying his policies would "tighten the noose the Castro regime continues to have around the neck of its own people." Menendez added that Obama was "ignoring the present state of torture and oppression" in Cuba.

But the Castro regime is happy. Once again, Obama has given a major concession to an enemy without getting anything in return.

Conditions in Cuba have not improved since Obama began appeasing Havana. A human rights activist was arrested just this week.

Of course, it's exactly the same with Obama's Iranian nuclear deal. Obama gave the ayatollah virtually everything he demanded. We lifted sanctions. We sent Iran billions in gold and cash.

Nothing good has come of it. Nothing has changed in Tehran. Iran still chants "Death to America." Iran still promises a second Holocaust of the Jews. And Iran is still the world's leading state-sponsor of terrorism.

Chicago Hate Crime

We are all sadly aware of the problem of racism. The trial of Charleston murderer Dylann Roof is making headlines. He stood before jurors yesterday and declared, "There's nothing wrong with me psychologically." I am not a psychologist, but I can say without any hesitation that there is a lot wrong with that young man's heart and it is called sin.

Unfortunately, we are often misled when it comes to race. Not only have many hate crimes turned out to be hoaxes, but the charge of racism is too often exploited by the left to silence normal conservative thought and opinion.

But the evidence is overwhelming. The sin of judging someone by their race knows no racial boundaries and evil comes in all colors.

We are reminded of that fact this morning by an extremely disturbing story breaking out of Chicago. Here are the basic facts:

Chicago police have arrested four black youths -- all adults -- for kidnapping and torturing a mentally disabled 18 year-old white man.

The victim was held against his will for perhaps as long as 48 hours.

One of the attackers live streamed video of the assault on Facebook. During the video another attacker is heard yelling, among other things, "F--- Trump!" and "F--- white people!"

Chicago police described the video as "sickening," and the evidence of what took place is absolutely clear. But at least initially, Chicago authorities and the media establishment hesitated to label the attack as a hate crime. One police commander described the four thugs as "young adults and they make stupid decisions."

I am pleased to report that common sense has prevailed. Prosecutors announced this afternoon that hate crimes charges, in addition to aggravated kidnapping and battery, have been filed against the four attackers.

I'm going to make a guess here: The individuals who tortured this young man didn't spend much time reading policy papers issued by the Trump or Clinton campaigns. I suspect they didn't read the platforms of the two political parties or watch the debates.

Their hatred of both Donald Trump and apparently of whites was, at least in part, hatred absorbed by the popular culture. These "young adults" and millions of other Americans are hearing constant messages of hate and bigotry from hip hop stars, entertainers and left-wing activists.

Their "stupid decisions" are the bitter fruit of the rhetorical excesses of the left, which became more pronounced over the Obama years. We have experienced increased racial discord, not the reconciliation that Obama promised and that the left claimed to be for.

When Donald Trump was told in an interview that some of his supporters harassed Hispanics and others, Trump looked into the camera and condemned such behavior, telling people, "Stop it!" I'll be eagerly listening today for Obama, Clinton or any major liberal media figure to say the same to young leftists in reaction to the growing violence we have experienced in recent years.

Waiting. . . Waiting. . . Waiting. . .

Whose at the Table?

In Washington when people say they want to put an idea "on the table" it’s important to ask on whose table will it be.

All too often Republicans win elections only to lose their negotiations in Washington.

When President George W. Bush came to town he had a history of working with conservative Democrats in Austin as governor. He thought he could do the same in Washington. What he didn't realize was that there weren't any conservative Democrats with real power in Washington.

When I was Speaker we made sure that we set the table and defined the agenda. This is how we reformed welfare, achieved the largest capital gains tax cut in history, and balanced four budgets.

After we were elected the first Republican House majority in 40 years, I announced just three days later that as Speaker I would be “very prepared to cooperate with the Clinton Administration," but that I was “not prepared to compromise.” Referring to the Contract with America, I said “We’re going to try and pass all 10 items, period…and we're not going to compromise on that".

A year later, during the budget negotiations, I said again, "We will cooperate with the president to reach an agreement but we will not compromise."

Standing firm by inviting your opponents to negotiate at your table within your parameters while refusing to be lured into allowing them to set the terms of the negotiation is vital if you want real change.

I was reminded of this on Sunday. I was on ABC's "This Week" with Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Donna Brazile as she suggested "there are also other Democrats who are saying, look, put something on the table. Let us work together."

Democrats understand that their values, their interest groups and their power structure are all under siege.

Now that they can no longer hide behind President Obama's personal popularity they have begun to realize how badly the Democratic Party has decayed during his Presidency.

Today there are over 4100 Republican State legislators (the most in history), 34 Republican Governors, 52 Republican Senators and 239 Republican House members.

Faced with the fact that the Democratic Party is weaker today than at any time since President Franklin Delano Roosevelt created the New Deal majority in the 1930s, Democrats are scrambling and finding themselves in three camps.

The ‘Hard Left’ camp is headed by Senator Elizabeth Warren and Senator Bernie Sanders. This is the true faith, socialist, and big bureaucracy is good for America camp. The muslim Congressman Keith Ellison is a good example of this anti-Israel, pro-government wing. This wing will offer crazy, radical government solutions and hope to build an ideological majority.

The ‘Hard Partisan’ camp is led by Minority Leader (former Speaker) Nancy Pelosi who seems to have learned nothing from her party's collapse under her leadership (from 257 the year President Obama was elected to 196 this year). Pelosi's model will be to fight virtually every day on every issue and try to rebuild the partisan base.

Third, there is a scattering of Democrats who are interested in working with the incoming President. This is a small group so far but as the Trump program develops there might be a real opportunity to grow a Trump wing of the Democratic Party.

The challenge to President-elect Trump and to the congressional Republicans is to insist that the negotiations be defined and built upon the values they have collectively created.

School choice, for example, is central to the Trump vision of hope for poor children. Any Democrat who wants to help think through and improve a school choice initiative should be invited to the table. Those Democrats who insist on trapping poor children in bad schools should not be part of the discussion.

President Reagan attracted Democrats to his positions while convincing the American people that he was right. When we passed his three-year tax cut proposal, the heart of his economic recovery program, one out of every three House Democrats voted with us. We didn't go to them. They came to us because of public pressure and because they thought we were doing the right thing to get the economy growing.

As you watch the next few months, check to see who is setting the table: the new administration or the Democrats. Then you will know if we are making progress or being sweet talked into bad ideas.

Your Friend,
Newt
